We blocked off the day to watch the inauguration of President Biden. Homeschool was self-taught government, history, & social studies. Kaycee had many questions. I'm proud of her inquiries, but I will admit having to research a some answers. A few years ago, she had the order of presidents memorized. Unfortunately, we have both since forgotten the order. In all honesty, how many adults still remember the order & how often does it come up in everyday conversation? I'm getting at the age where it is even becoming a bit difficult for me to even remember the order of presidents since my birth. Can you name them all since Lincoln? (Answer below).
Looking back through our books, we found that our family's homestead began while our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, was in office. A mere thirty presidents ago! So many historical events the last 150 years. From the genealogy research that I have been doing for a few years, this was the era of our great, great, great grandparents. I wonder how our ancestors navigated through tough times in their history. But you know what? They survived those events and bore many descendants who have carried on. We will persevere just the same.
I am hopeful for the legacies that Kaycee & other children of her generation will leave for our country.
